The goals and objectives of all of our programs at the Western Slope Boys and Girls Club are:
- To get our young people off the streets and into a safer environment where they have protection from the hazards of gangs, violence and drugs.
- To provide options that show them how to develop the tools that will enable them to see that they can choose positive futures for themselves based on their own ideas and hopes, with the encouragement, support, and guidance of helpful, caring adults.
To enable the academically challenged and uninspired to reconstruct feelings of disinterest, threat, and despair about grades into greater confidence and academic abilities, resulting in increased achievement in math, reading, technology, and other subjects, as well as greater school attendance rates and graduation.
- To provide more opportunities to be a part of and contribute to their communities; and
- To improve overall behavior. When the children participate in a "positive place" after-school program, they have reduced opportunities to become involved in activities of a violent or criminal nature.
The expected outcomes for all of the current programs offered at the Club are:
- Decrease in the high school dropout rate, teen pregnancy, teen suicide, gang involvement, juvenile crime and violence.
- Improved grades in school and a better attitude toward learning.
- Practical application of skills taught in the classroom.
- Increased interest in career options.
- Improved self-esteem.
- Participation in community including mentorship of younger kids that can lead to employment at the Club.
- Improved behavior.
Let's Just Play!
Nickelodeon and Boys & Girls Clubs of America wants kids to get out and play. Have fun at school, watch a bit of television, but then go to your local Boys & Girls Club here in El Dorado County or find a friend and JUST PLAY!
Take the Let's Just Play pledge:
|

- I have a right to play.
- I play because that's what kids do.
- I can play any way and anywhere.
- I play with my family, my friends or by myself.
- I play fair and with respect for myself and others.
- I play every day.

I, ______________, pledge allegiance to PLAY in the United States of America. And to the principals who make recess grand. With support from our communities for free, unstructured time, respect and fair play for all.
